Dear Parents and Families,

We’ve had another busy and exciting month at Banana Moon, filled with celebrations, achievements, and lots of learning! Here’s a little round-up of what’s been happening in our nursery.

Saying Goodbye and Good Luck!
This month we say farewell to one of our boys as he heads off to start school. We’re so proud of how far he has come and know he’ll shine in his next adventure. He celebrated in style, joining a special graduation party over at our sister nursery at Aberdeen International – complete with plenty of fun and smiles!

Staff Success
Two of our team members recently received excellent feedback from their SVQ assessor, who observed their practice here at nursery. Their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the children really shone through – well done to both!

 Welcoming New Families
We’ve had lots of tours with prospective parents recently, with many new children joining us soon. We’re especially excited to welcome those starting under the funded ELC hours from 18th August. We can’t wait for you to become part of our Banana Moon family.

Positive Planning Feedback
Our Development Officer from Aberdeen City Council visited our Full Moons room to look over our planning. We’re delighted to say we received fantastic feedback on how we’ve been working so far – a big thank you to the team for their continued dedication.

Supervisions and Staff Growth
Supervisions are continuing, both practice-based and wellbeing-focused, and we are finding these incredibly beneficial. These sessions allow us to set clear goals for staff and ensure we’re always working towards the very best outcomes for the children.

Fire Drill Success
In July, we carried out our fire drill and successfully evacuated the entire building smoothly and in under three minutes – a huge well done to everyone for staying calm and following the safety routines.

Team Meetings & New Paperwork
Our monthly staff meetings continue to be a valuable time to reflect, share ideas, and discuss best practice. We also had our monthly support call from Banana Moon Franchise, who have developed some new paperwork formats which we’ll be rolling out soon to make our processes even better.

Stay and Play Sessions
We’re excited to welcome our parents in this week for our Stay and Play sessions. It’s always such a pleasure to have you join us, see what the children have been learning, and share in their experiences.

First Beach Excursion
Our Full Moons enjoyed their very first trip to Balmedie Beach – and what a wonderful day it was! The children planned their adventure with the help of Kerry and Aimee, looking at bus times and costs, making shopping lists for picnic items, completing risk assessments, and thinking ahead about activities for the day. They travelled brilliantly on public transport, managed the walk from the village to the beach with great enthusiasm, and spent the day exploring, playing, and enjoying their picnic by the sea. A big well done to the children for their independence and teamwork.
