ebruary has been another busy and productive month at Denmore, with a continued focus on professional development, staff wellbeing and enhancing the learning environment for our children.

Our team has completed an abundance of refresher training this month, ensuring knowledge and practice remain current and in line with best practice guidance. Staff wellbeing also continues to be a key priority. Our fortnightly wellbeing check-ins alternate between meetings with the manager and room leaders, providing regular opportunities for staff to talk openly, seek support and reflect on their roles.

Alongside this, we continue to hold practice-based supervisions, where staff are encouraged to reflect on their work and set new and challenging goals, promoting ambition, professional growth and high-quality practice across the nursery.

We have also been preparing for our upcoming Safeguarding Audit. As part of this, staff have taken part in a safeguarding quiz to refresh their knowledge in areas of safeguarding that, thankfully, we are not often exposed to within our setting. This helps ensure all staff remain confident and informed should concerns ever arise.

We are delighted to continue welcoming prospective families into the nursery for visits, and it has been lovely to see new children joining our nursery community.

This month we also celebrated World Book Day, and it was wonderful to see so many fantastic costumes. The children enjoyed sharing their favourite stories and taking part in activities that celebrated their love of books and storytelling.

A huge focus this month has been on the garden, with intense weekly audits carried out by the Manager to ensure the same high standards of learning, play opportunities and organisation that we see indoors are reflected in our outdoor environment too. We have already recorded lots of positive progress through these audits. We would also like to thank the families who completed our garden feedback forms. Your input is greatly valued, and we are looking forward to hosting a family Easter activity session in the garden, giving families the opportunity to see the improvements and experience the space alongside the children.

Lyndsay and the Full Moons team also attended planning training delivered by Aberdeen City’s Locality Lead, Danielle from Aberdeen City Council. The session was extremely beneficial and supported the team in further developing their planning approaches and understanding of effective learning experiences for children.

We would also like to congratulate Kerry on taking on additional responsibilities as our ASN (Additional Support Needs) Coordinator. This role plays an important part in the nursery by supporting staff to identify and respond to children’s individual needs, working closely with families and external professionals where required, and helping to ensure all children receive the right support to thrive in our environment.

We were also pleased to welcome Aberlour Futures back into the nursery to sign Ellie up to begin her SSCYP Level 7 qualification, following a successful readiness-for-assessment stage. Supporting staff development through qualifications continues to be a key part of our commitment to high-quality care and learning.

Finally, today we were delighted to welcome all of our families into the nursery for a special Mother’s Day treat, giving children the opportunity to celebrate the special people in their lives and share a lovely moment together.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to another exciting month ahead.
