August has been another busy and exciting month here at the nursery, full of learning opportunities, team development, and special visits.

Childsmile Visit
We were delighted to welcome the Childsmile team for a toothbrushing visit. The children did brilliantly, and the feedback was very positive – well done everyone!

Welcoming Families
We continue to welcome new families into our nursery, as well as showing prospective families around. It’s always wonderful to share what makes our setting so special.

Staff Wellbeing
Many of our staff have enjoyed some well-deserved holidays this month and have returned feeling refreshed and ready for the journey ahead. We have also extended our wellbeing supervisions, with room leaders now carrying out monthly 1:1 check-ins with their teams, ensuring everyone feels supported in their roles.

Training & Development

Our new staff members completed first aid training with Little Lives, who provided fantastic, practical sessions.
We also welcomed Cairn Training, who came to meet with their candidate currently completing her SSCYP qualification within our nursery.
Our recent Learning and Development Audit scored us an excellent 82.5% – a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our team.

Sharing Best Practice
This month we had a lovely visit from Woodend Nursery, It was a fantastic opportunity to share ideas and exchange aspects of best practice.

Council & Inspectorate Engagement

Aberdeen City Council visited to ensure our funded children’s learning continues to meet Curriculum for Excellence expectations.
We also joined a very informative Care Inspectorate webinar about the rollout of the new Quality Framework, which gave us lots to reflect on moving forward.

Housekeeper Appointment
We are pleased to share that our interview for a full-time housekeeper was successful. Our new colleague will take care of all dietary needs, ensuring meals and snacks are prepared to a high standard every day.

Staff Meetings & Inductions
Our monthly staff meetings continue to be a valuable opportunity to discuss what’s working well, explore innovation, and agree on areas for development. We’ve also been busy with new staff inductions, helping new team members settle in and feel part of our nursery.

Pre-School Adventures
As part of their transport project, our preschool children enjoyed an exciting train trip! They loved exploring a real-life journey and linking their classroom learning to hands-on experiences.
